TX-9 covers a heavily urbanized swath of southwest Houston and inner suburbs where Black and Hispanic residents together form a large majority, producing some of the most lopsided Democratic margins in the state.
Across the recorded series it reached a Democratic high of fifty-seven points in 2016. Between 2020 and 2024 the district moved ten points toward the Republican candidate; the 2024 margin was forty-four points.
A population of 410,177, a 35% non-Hispanic-white share, and a median household income of $81,839 describe the district.
