Cape Coral-Fort Myers has been one of Florida's fastest-expanding metros, with heavy in-migration of retirees from the Midwest and Northeast steadily recomposing its voter base and pushing registration numbers well ahead of housing-boom projections.
Across the recorded series it reached a Democratic high of ninety-six points in 1892 and a Republican high of fifty-nine points in 1972. Between 2020 and 2024 the metro moved nine points toward the Republican candidate; the 2024 margin was twenty-eight points.
