Nashville's metro has absorbed hundreds of thousands of new residents since 2010, compressing Republican margins in Davidson County's suburbs even as the city core votes reliably Democratic by double digits.
Across the recorded series it reached a Democratic high of sixty-seven points in 1936 and a Republican high of twenty-eight points in 1972. Between 2020 and 2024 the metro moved seven points toward the Republican candidate; the 2024 margin was seventeen points.
